Intro Training
The goal of the i-Class intro training program is to ensure that you and your staff are equipped with the product knowledge and strategies required to perform daily recruiting activities and maximize recruiting success. While most customers find the i-Class system to be user-friendly, it is important that all users attend the intro training program to make sure they are fully informed about the power and flexibility of all the available tools i-Class offers. You can select those features most suited to your business process and office needs. Intro training will provide you with a complete overview of all the necessary functionality to get you started recruiting online more effectively.
AY offers weekly online Application and Prospect training on Tuesdays in two-hour time slots from 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. These instructor-led Web-based sessions are offered through an online meeting (using a Web-based meeting tool provided by Microsoft Live Meeting), in combination with a telephone call-in to hear the audio presentation. You will see the demonstration onscreen on your computer and hear the trainer over the phone.

Advanced Topic Training
In addition to weekly intro training sessions, AY also offers a selection of focused training programs that highlight specific components of the i-Class system. Completion of the appropriate Intro Training session is a prerequisite for the Advanced Topic classes.
Upcoming Advanced Topic Training courses will cover the following topics:
- Overview of i-Class Enhancements
This periodic training class will familiarize you with new enhancements added to the i-Class system and will offer strategies for incorporating them into your admissions process. This course is offered as-needed and following the release of a system upgrade.
- Update/Renewal Process for your i-Class Forms
There are a number of important issues to consider as you plan for the next admissions season, and this session will provide information to ensure a smooth update/renewal process. We will also give you suggestions of ways to enhance your use of i-Class. Take this opportunity to learn how you can do more with your system!
- Taking Charge of i-Class--Changes YOU Can Make
This class will give advanced i-Class users information about the various aspects of the system which can be controlled directly by users, without having to contact Technical Support or the Client Relationship Manager. Being able to make changes yourself not only saves time, but also ensures that your system is always up-to-date, communicating the most timely and relevant information to your students. Topics will include the effective use of dynamic text, instructions, style sheet, downloadable forms, and images. This session is designed for more technical users of the i-Class system.
- Automating Business Processes with Business Rules
Business rules are a powerful tool to ensure greater data accuracy and to create a more efficient admissions process, both for prospective students and for an admissions office. This training class will provide an in-depth review of the Business Rules functionality available in i-Class. This session is designed for more technical users of the i-Class system.
- Achieving your Goals with a Targeted Online Communication Strategy
Carefully thought-out email marketing is the most important new tool you can add to your recruiting mix. With personalized and targeted messages, you can communicate more often and more effectively with your prospective and admitted students. The communication tools available in i-Class, used in conjunction with a well planned strategy, can help you achieve success with your recruitment efforts, and this session will show you how!
- Email Templates and Conditional Messaging
i-Class gives users the ability to create an unlimited number of personalized and targeted email templates. This training class will provide a step-by-step review of how to create personalized emails using mail merge tags and how to generate numerous targeted messages with a single email template through the power of conditional messaging.
- Exports & Imports
This training class will provide an in-depth review of how prospect and applicant data can be exported in several standard formats (Fixed Width, Character Delimited, Tab Delimited, and XML) from i-Class to other systems or software products such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc. Importing prospect and applicant data into i-Class will also be covered. This session is designed for more technical users of the i-Class system.
- Prospective Student Self-Service: Allowing Prospects to Update Their Own Records
With a recent enhancement, your office can allow prospective students to update their own records, ensuring greater data accuracy and the most up-to-date information about interested prospects. This session will provide an overview of the new functionality, discuss how to create and send out an appropriate email message to your prospects, and present some ideas about how you might take advantage of this i-Class feature.
- Working with Queries
i-Class gives users the ability to create an unlimited number of queries based upon the questions and valid responses on your prospect or application form. This training class will provide a step-by-step review of how to create and run queries, including a discussion of available operators and the use of Wildcards.
- i-Class Management Reporting Tools: Prospect Analysis/Applicant Analysis/Enrollment Analysis
The student analysis feature allows you to evaluate student activity and provides the ability to view data in report and graphic form. Default analysis reports for each system are available as well as conversion and yield analysis data. This training class will cover how to create and run reports while also providing tips on how to best analyze data within i-Class.
- Updating a Style Sheet and Working with the Questions on your Form
Advanced i-Class users may wish to update various aspects of the student experience without contacting i-Class Technical Support or waiting for the annual review process. This session along with the “Updating Instructional Text, Managing Choice Groups, and Uploading Files” session will detail the components of the system that may be modified during the admissions season including instructional text, style sheets, choice groups, dynamic text, and the questions on your form. This session is designed for more technical users of the i-Class system.

Advanced i-Class users may wish to update various aspects of the student experience without contacting i-Class Technical Support or waiting for the annual review process. This session along with the “Updating a Style Sheet and Working with the Questions on your Form” session will detail the components of the system that may be modified during the admissions season including instructional text, style sheets, choice groups, dynamic text, and the questions on your form. - Decision Notification
As part of Decision and Enrollment Management with i-Class, Decision Notification gives users the ability to define their own decisions and create decision letter templates for each, post decision letters to students in a secure environment on the Web, and use mail merge tags to personalize the decision letters online. This training class will provide an in-depth review of how decisions can be managed and made available to applicants from within the WebCenter.
- Enrollment Management
As part of Decision and Enrollment Management with i-Class, Enrollment Management gives users the ability to permit students to indicate their decision acceptance online, survey students about their decisions, and collect enrollment deposits via the Web in a secure environment. This training class will provide an overview of the Enrollment Management module and how it can be used to manage the final components of the admissions cycle online.
- Status Communication
i-Class gives users of the Decision and Enrollment Management Module within the Application System the ability to communicate to students the status of application documents such as transcripts, test scores, and other supporting materials. Schools may also report back to applicants their "stage" in the application process. This training class will describe how this functionality can be managed within the WebCenter.
- Recommendation Module
i-Class Recommendation Module gives users of the Application System the ability to manage online recommendations for applicants. This module gives recommendation providers a step-by-step and secure method of submitting recommendations online, and also allows applicants to monitor status through their online account. Submitted recommendations are automatically linked to the applicant's submitted application record for convenience. This training class will provide an overview of the Recommendation Module within i-Class and will describe how the functionality can be managed within the WebCenter.
- Event and Interview Management
The i-Class Event and Interview Management System gives users the ability to manage events or interviews through set-up and enrollment. You can maintain the appropriate information about your invitees, attendees or interviewees as well as provide calendar views for both internal users and invitees or applicants. Dynamic communication tools facilitate scheduling and attendance based on school-determined business rules and automatically updates appropriate parties of event/interview status or changes. This training class will provide an overview of this most recent addition to i-Class and will describe how the functionality can be managed within the WebCenter.
- Q&A Session with Trainer
Q&A (Question and Answer) Session with Trainer is offered so that a trainer can respond directly to your requests for help and to provide more information about the functionality available in i-Class. Although each Q&A session identifies a "Focus" topic, you may ask questions on any area of the system. Not only can you learn from our experienced trainers, but colleagues from other schools who attend these classes may be able to provide tips and helpful suggestions, as well.
